Detailed Introduction of Vespel® SP-202

Vespel® SP-202 is a specialized conductive polyimide (PI) molding compound produced by DuPont, uniquely formulated with proprietary conductive fillers to deliver exceptional electrostatic discharge (ESD) performance. As a thermosetting PI material, it integrates the inherent high-temperature resistance and chemical stability of polyimide with reliable conductive properties, making it a critical material for applications requiring rapid static dissipation in extreme environments.
·Core Properties: Conductive Performance: It features excellent electrical conductivity with surface resistivity ranging from 10⁻¹ to 10¹ Ω and volume resistivity of 10⁻¹ to 10¹ Ω·cm, enabling quick and efficient static charge elimination to protect sensitive electronic components from ESD damage.
·Thermal Performance: The material maintains stable performance at a continuous operating temperature of up to 260°C (500°F) and can withstand short-term exposure to temperatures as high as 482°C (900°F). It also retains good toughness at cryogenic temperatures down to -269°C (-452°F), adapting to extreme temperature fluctuations. ·Tribological Properties: Vespel® SP-202 exhibits superior wear resistance and dimensional stability, with a low friction coefficient that supports stable operation in oil-free or low-lubrication scenarios, reducing maintenance needs.
·Chemical Resistance: It is highly resistant to most acids, bases, organic solvents, aviation fuels, and hydraulic oils, along with excellent hydrolysis and aging resistance, ensuring long-term service in harsh corrosive environments.
·Mechanical Strength: The material possesses reliable tensile strength, impact resistance, and creep resistance, maintaining structural integrity under static and dynamic loads. ·Other Advantages: It has a black appearance, is machinable into precision components via isostatic pressing or direct forming (DF) processes, and meets relevant industrial standards for electronic and aerospace applications.
·Typical Applications: Vespel® SP-202 is widely used in semiconductor manufacturing (wafer carriers, ESD-safe fixtures), aerospace (static-dissipative components in engine compartments and cabin interiors), electronic equipment (ESD protection parts for sensitive circuits), and industrial machinery (conductive wear-resistant components in high-temperature environments).
